To ensure a safe atmosphere (not to mention avoid legal problems!) there are a few rules you need to keep in mind when writing your post:

1. No racist, homophobic, transphobic or similarly unacceptable comments.

2. No full names. You can address your post to anyone you like, but instead of using recognisable names, you might want to replace the name of the person with a star (*) or perhaps describe them in another way - like “Dear boss” or “Dear man on the bus today”.

3. No personal details. This includes addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, bank details and any other information that might compromise the security of someone’s identity. You wouldn’t want them doing it to you, either!

4. No graphic language. Excessive swearing or posts of explicitly sexual nature are not allowed on Dear Whomever.

Posts that break these rules will be modified or deleted without warning.
